If you are an avid car collector, here’s something that would pique your interest. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first James Bond film to feature the Aston Martin DB5, Bond film creators have commissioned a one-off DB5 wrapped in gold!

However, this gold-plated car is not for driving purposes because it’s actually just a 1/3 scale model. The replica DB5 has been signed by legendary Bond production designer Sir Ken Adam, who designed the Q branch modifications to the car for Sean Connery as agent 007 in 1964’s Goldfinger.

Created by prop-makers Propshop using 3D scans of the full size DB5, the one-off gold model with 24-carat gold plated detailing comes complete with radio controlled machine guns, bullet-proof shield and revolving number plate – just like Bond’s DB5.

The unique Aston Martin DB5 replica will be auctioned for charity later this month in a special online auction to benefit the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).

The unique Goldfinger scale model is expected to sell between £40,000-60,000 and will be available for bidding online at christies.com/goldfinger. Bidding closes on September 17 which falls on the 50th anniversary of the world premiere of Goldfinger.

Besides the replica model, there will be a unique Goldfinger Seamaster Aqua Terra wristwatch created by Omega to celebrate the anniversary of the film, a first edition book Goldfinger by Ian Fleming, an original British cinema poster for Goldfinger designed by Robert Brownjohn with the famous golden girl in the background, and a special golden edition of Taschen’s The James Bond Archives, one of 40 artists proofs signed by Daniel Craig, are available for sale.
