New track-focused Lotus Elise S Cup revealed

A more extreme version of the Lotus Elise, the S Cup, has been confirmed by the Lotus Group. The new Lotus Elise S Cup is “designed for driving enthusiasts looking for a road car that can be taken on track days with ease”.

The Elise S Cup is essentially the track-based Elise sportscar that set to sits above the Elise, Elise S and Club Racer variants and can be upgraded with a selection of road and track options. Underneath the hood is a supercharged 1.8-litre Toyota engine that packs 217bhp with 250Nm of torque. It weighs 932kg and can accelerate 0-100kmh in 4.2sec.

The Elise S Cup also packs the same aerokit and adjustable suspension with the race car, with Lotus claimed such enhancements have made the Elise S Cup 3 secs quicker than the Elise S around Lotus’s test track. A headlight is included, together with typical racing machine goodies such as roll cage and wiring harness modifications that allows a fire extinguisher system and electrical kill switch to be retrofitted prior entering for a track day.

Lotus boss Jean-Marc Gales said: “The Lotus Elise S Cup is all about the pure driving experience with the Lotus attributes of high performance, light weight and excellent ride and handling. It is perfect for the driver who desires a quick, authentic, desirable and competitive sports car.”

The Elise S Cup will be priced from £43,500 (RM226,200), making it the most expensive Elise model as for now.
