Range Rover Sport SVR is the Fastest, Most Powerful non-German SUV ever

We all know that the new Range Rover SVR Sports clocked the fastest SUV record on Nurburgring, and it is the second car from Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Operations division after this bespoke car. Well, the world’s fastest production SUV (for now) is now available at the UK for a cool £93,450.

The SVR is powered by a 542bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine with 680Nm of torque at its disposal. The all-aluminium engine, shared with Jaguar’s F-type R coupe and XFR-S saloon, is mated with a revised eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

Performance figures are at supercar level (hence the tag) with the 0-100km/h in just 4.5sec and can reach a top speed limited to 259km/h. The fast acceleration will be complemented by the two-stage active exhaust with electronically controlled valves, which can supposedly produce the exhaust note of a racecar!

The all-wheel driven SVR can perform off-road duties via switching to permanent four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, and an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the centre differential.

Other electronic goodies on the SVR include the retuned Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential for better traction while on the tarmac, Torque Vectoring by Braking function, Dynamic Stability Control and the impressive Active-Roll Control system – where hydraulic pump replaces anti-roll bars on each axle for improved dynamics and handling.

The Range Rover Sport SVR, which sports a new bodykit and 21-inch wheels as standard, will be featured in Pebble Beach this weekend. The car is set to compete with super fast SUVs from Germany (you know who) when it reaches UK showrooms in October this year.
