Sons of Niki Lauda & James Hunt to race!

mrf

Judging by the title of this piece, many might think this could be the plot for the sequel of last year’s brilliant movie, Rush. However, it isn’t as the sons of James Hunt and Niki Lauda, will actually meet to race in this winter’s MRF series.

Freddie Hunt and Mathias Lauda will compete as teammates under the M&N Racing banner in the race series using Formula 3 Dallara Chassis cars. Freddie, who is the second son of James, competed in British Formula Ford in 2007 and ADAC Formel Masters in Germany in 2008 and 2009, has yet to race in any race series since then. Mathias, who is Niki’s eldest son, is now competing in the Euro NASCAR series after a few years in GP2 and Formula 3000. Just recently Matthias made history by becoming the first driver to win an oval NASCAR race in the wet on grooved rubber at Tours Speedway in France.

The MRF challenge is a single-seater race series racing at racetracks at Bahrain and India. The series attracted plenty of young and aspiring F1 hopefuls during the winter season. Hopefully, these two sons of former F1 legends will re-enact their fathers’ legendary rivalry just like in the movie “Rush”; we reckon that’s exactly what everyone’s going to expect!
