Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd has recorded an outstanding overall 24% improvement in performance for the first 6 months of 2014. During the period of January to June this year, the German carmaker has registered a total of 4,536 units compared to 3,646 units during the same period last year. The increase in sales was led by Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles which registered 3,366 units, to record a growth of 48%.

The  growth experienced during the  first half of 2014  was spearheaded by two models which were launched back in March; the CLA and the S-Class. However, since the beginning of the year, the A- and E-Class continue to maintain strong momentum, registering solid growth in the first half of 2014 .

Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles also contributed to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s strong growth. With fleet deals to haulage companies such as Hexagon High Transport Sdn Bhd, Interway Transport Sdn Bhd and Swift Haulage Sdn Bhd, Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles experienced a 35% increase from 66 units in the first half of 2013 to 89 units this year.

“It has been a most exciting first half. From the Mercedes-Benz S400L Hybrid qualifying and receiving full duty exemptions; to breaking ground on our new customised warehouse located in the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Automotive Industrial Park in Pekan, Pahang; to having the honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia officiate the 30th anniversary celebrations of our Apprentice Training Centre in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. We are also very happy to be contributing to the increase in Mercedes-Benz global sales figures,” Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and CEO, Roland Folger remarked.
