Sebastian Loeb conquers Goodwood Hill Climb with Peugeot

Sebastian Loeb won the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed Sunday shoot-out in the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak Car. Driving the similar car that broke last year’s Pikes Peak record, Loeb completed Goodwood’s iconic 1.86km Hillclimb course at 44.60 seconds. That followed by former GT1 World Champion and ex-GP driver Michael Bartels, whose Maserati MC12 ‘Goodwood Cent 100’ was 1.22seconds slower than the 208 T16.

This year’s Goodwood hill climb challenge saw a variety of interesting competitors – A McLaren F1 GTR ‘Long-tail’ driven by Indy 500 winner and former IndyCar champion Kenny Brack, a Nissan GTR-NISMO GT3 piloted by Jann Mardenborough, and one F1 car of Jordan 191-Ford, driven by Didier Sirgue.

However, Loeb’s effort lands him the sixth fastest in the historic Goodwood, with Nick Hiedfeld’s record of 41.60 seconds set in 1999 in a McLaren F1 car remaining the fastest car at Goodwood. Maybe next year, Loeb?
