Jeep, the American 4×4 maker well known for the Cherokee and Wrangler models, is set to make a comeback into the Malaysian market. This is made possible after Malaysia automotive conglomerate, DRB-Hicom and Chrysler won an exclusive rights to sell Chrysler’s Jeep brand vehicles in our country.

Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON) will become the main distributor for Jeep models such as Wrangler, Compass, Grand Cherokee and Cherokee. EON will also establish a 3S (sales, service and spare parts) centre in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Selangor by October this year.

The Jeep marque was first seen two decades ago when MBF Automobile, a division of MBF Holdings, was appointed as the main distributor for the American off-road manufacturer. However, it didn’t last long as the company was closed down before the millennium. There are still a limited units of Cherokee and Wrangler that can be spotted in our local roads today.
