Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series thrills Sepang

2014 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series kicks-off in Sepang

Malaysia may have lost the hosting rights of the famed Super GT race series, but there isn’t any shortage of GT racing action this year at the Sepang International Circuit. Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific has already been hosted at Sepang in March, and there’s the Audi R8 LMS Cup Asia coming in the middle of August. Even better, Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia hosts not one, but three races at the sizzling hot and tyre blistering track of Sepang!

The 2014 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia series kicked-off on 10-11 of May at the Sepang International Circuit; a breathtaking demonstration of raw power, finesse and speed. This year the series attracted 18 teams with 28 drivers, from 10 different nationalities – with a driver lineup including Japan’s Super GT racers Manabu Orido and Takuya Shirasaka, Max Wiser, Dilantha Malagamuwa and Malaysia’s own Zen Low Suan Chuan and Dominic Ang. All drivers drove identical Gallardo LP 560-4 Super Trofeos, each car with two drivers.

Zen Low Suan Chuan was happy with their performance – “The car performed really well this weekend. The track was so hot, so the races were quite challenging and it’s always a great experience when you can race in your home-country”

Winning teams celebrating after intense competition

The 2014 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series will hold its second stop of the season in Sentul, Indonesia on 7th – 8th June. The race series will return to Sepang for the series finale on 20-21 of November, where on 22-23 of November, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo World Final will take place for the first time in Asia at Sepang.
