BMW M2 in the Works?

The rumours were that BMW was contemplating about producing the M2. History suggest that they might not produce it because when BMW launched the 1M, it’s so called successor was the M135i. Of course that was the hatch back version and when BMW came out with the 2-series range, the M235i became the desire of many enthusiasts.

Now people have said that they have spied a BMW M2 being tested on the ring. Could it be that the return of the M2 would be the real spiritual successor of the BMW 1 Series M? The 1M previously used a tuned version of the N54 engine (3.0 litre in-line 6 cylinder engine) and was already producing 340hp and 450Nm. When it was launched in Malaysia, it’s price tag was at around RM509k.

A lot of folks would consider that to be rather expensive especially since that the Mercedes A45 AMG is priced around 348,888 (w/o insurance). With very limited volumes of the M235i being produced, what more would the M2 cost if it ever reaches our shores. Also would BMW make the M2 to produce more power?
