Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah has been appointed the new CEO of Proton Holdings Bhd from April 15th 2014 to replace Datuk Lukman Ibrahim. The appointment was announced recently by DRB-Hicom Group Managing Director Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil at a function to honour two HICOM Automotive Manufacturers Sdn Bhd employees who earned a six-month industrial training stint with Volkswagen in Portugal.

Abdul Harith, who was previously the DRB-Hicom Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (DEFTECH) Chief Executive Officer, said “I’ve already been in office for the past two months and the announcement of my promotion makes it official.”

The new Proton management had undergone numerous changes in the past few years following the resignation of Proton group managing director Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir and recently that of Proton deputy CEO Datuk Lukman Ibrahim.
