New-generation Hyundai i30 debuts in Malaysia

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HDSM) has just launched the new generation five-door hatchback i30 in conjunction with its grand opening of their latest 3S centre in Cheras.

The latest addition to Hyundai’s C-segment will certainly enhance the appeal of Hyundai’s mid-size cars. The i30 is available in two variants: the i30 1.8L Executive and the i30 1.8L Sport. The i30 1.8L is priced at RM127,888 OTR (inclusive of road tax and insurance, West Malaysia) while the Sport variant that is fitted with a bodykit is priced at RM132,888 OTR (inclusive of road tax and insurance, West Malaysia).

The hot hatch i30 is currently Hyundai’s best selling model in Europe, achieving triple milestones with significant new sales and production landmarks across the globe. Globally, the i30 achieved sales of more than 1.5 million units. Designed and developed at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Russelsheim Germany, the i30 features Hyundai’s signature fluidic sculpture design and modern architecture that gives it a three dimensional presence.

Under the hood sits Hyundai’s NU 1.8 MPI engine with Dual-Continuous Variable Valve Timing (DVVT) that produces a maximum power of 143hp and 175Nm or torque. Hyundai’s in-house 6-speed automatic transmission also adds to the dynamic performance of the car with outstanding fuel economy.

The interior of the new generation i30 is roomier than the previous model. The 2,650mm wheelbase is one of the longest wheelbase in the C-segment. The overall length is increased by 20mm (to 4,300mm), width is enlarged by 5mm (to 1788mm) and height has been reduced by 10mm (1,470mm). The increased in overall length and width offers more space for occupants and more cargo space for luggage. The i30 has a boot capacity of 378-litres and it can be expended up to 1,326-litres with rear seats folded – an increase of 10% compared to its predecessor. The i30’s versatile seat allows cargo to be loaded and unloaded with ease. Combined with a large cargo area, there will be ample space for every shape and size.

The i30 has an advanced cockpit area with a touch-of-a-button convenience. Smart features of the new i30 include a panaromic sunroof, a large TFT Supervision cluster that provides a wide range of essential information to the driver, parking assist system, a smart key, a rain sensor, and a host of other impressive features that are just a button away.

Apart from that, the i30 comes equipped with Smart Welcome System that “greets” you as you walk towards it. Upon detection of the smart key, the Auto-Folding wing-mirrors unfold, puddle lamps from the side mirrors active and the door handles illuminate to give passengers better lighting especially at night.

In terms of safety, the i30 feature the latest active and passive safety technologies to ensure maximum protection for its occupants. Active safety features include ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), BAS (Brake Assist System), VSM (Vehicle Stablitiy Management) and Emergency Stop Signal. Passive safety feature include six airbags including front, side ad curtain.

Available in seven popular colours namely Black Bean, Brilliant Red, Coffee Bean, Creamy White, Dazzling Blue, Hyper Silver and Sleek Silver, the i30 comes with 5-year or 300,000km (whichever come first) extended warranty on all its new passenger vehicles. Hyundai’s extended warranty is in accordance with its manufacturing warranty. A 24-hour road assist service is now available for all new and existing Hyundai vehicles which are insured by Hyundai’s insurance panel.

As mentioned earlier, the launch of the new-generation i30 was held simultaneously with the grand opening of Hyundai’s latest 3S Centre. This new 3S centre will serve the Hyundai community in Cheras and its neighbouring vicinity.

The 65,337 sq ft centre is fully equipped with 7 service bays including two Quick Service bays, a showroom and a spare parts centre. Its services area has a throughput capacity of 24 vehicles a day, thereby reducing customers waiting hours.
