Mercedes-Benz C-Class and GLA-Class unveiled at Bangkok Motor Show

At the on-going Bangkok International Motor Show which kick starts today, Mercedes-Benz has premièred the striking new C-Class and the GLA-Class. This marks an ASEAN debut for both models which will also be officially unveiled in Malaysia very soon!

The new C-Class will be available in two variants for Thai customers – C 250 AMG Dynamic and the C 180 Exclusive. The C 250 AMG Dynamic gets a sporty grille with a central star in the centre as well as other key features including AMG aerodynamic kit comprising of front-rear bumper and side skirts, 18-inch alloy wheels, sports pedals, vented front disc brakes and panoramic sunroof.

With the Mercedes emblem on the bonnet, The C 180 Exclusive’s front end is a classic Saloon chrome radiator grille with AirPanel function in which the fins can be opened or closed completely for aerodynamic optimization. LED Intelligent Light System is a standard headlamps system for the C 250 AMG Dynamic while LED High Performance is equipped with the C 180 Exclusive.

The interior has been carefully designed to offer the highest level of luxury and comfort, but at the same time strongly maintaining a sporty finish. The interior features high-grade materials and precision of the finely-crafted details.

The bold interior design sees the large one-piece centre console panel sweeping from the centre air vents to the armrest, creating a sense of open space, plus a modern and purist feel. The innovative touch-pad in the hand-rest above the controller marks a further evolutionary step, providing simple and intuitive operation of all head-unit functions using finger gestures.

The body structure of the new C-Class is another innovation in itself, providing the basis for reduced weight, outstanding rigidity and optimum noise and vibration characteristics, in addition to a high level of crash safety.Thanks to the intelligent and innovative lightweight construction, the overall weight of the new C-Class is reduced by up to 100kg. The light weight construction of the new C-Class cuts fuel consumption by up to 20% without any loss of performance while at the same time enabling a lower centre of gravity, which in turn gives rise to the vehicle’s noticeably sporty and agile handling.

The GLA-Class on the other hand, is the fifth and latest member of the Mercedes-Benz SUV family that helps to expand the brand’s compact car portfolio, increasing the variety and attractiveness of the line-up. The GLA-Class adopts a contemporary design theme that relates to agility, nimbleness and safety, responding to every type of challenge, whether on or off the road.

The version offered for the Thai market is the GLA 200 Urban featuring special accessories such as chrome twin-louvre grille and central star logo in front, large air intake with chrome surround, chrome window frame and chrome exhaust muffler.

Inside, the muscular and imposing theme is continued to present a sporty and elegant atmosphere. The interior has a particularly high feel of quality that is achieved by the contours, and the choice and combination of high-grade materials. The rear seat backrest can be split-folded (1/3 and 2/3) in order to increase luggage space.

The two-wheel-drive GLA 200 Urban is powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 156hp at 5,300rpm and 250Nm at 1,250-4,000 rpm. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 8.8 seconds and the GLA 200 Urban can reach a top speed of 215 km/h.
