Jaguar to end production of the XK Coupe

While Jaguar’s new F-Type is taking all the headlines, it seems it has overshadowed the other forgotten sibling, the XK. Jaguar has decided they are ceasing production of the XK coupe, and perhaps pave the way for the ever popular F-Type coupe to replace the XK. The tremendous response of the F-Type has eaten much sales of the XK, prompting Jaguar to announce it will stop building the car by the summer of 2014.

The XK is Jaguar’s only 2+2 GT coupe in their model range; hence the only advantage the XK has over the F-Type is the additional but extremely small rear seats, but yet again it didn’t help convince prospective Jaguar buyers to consider the XK over the gorgeous F-Type.

However, Jaguar’s design chief and the man who designed the XK, Ian Callum, has given hope to its revival in the future, hinting, however, that it could take the concept in an entirely new direction, with considerations including growing into the luxury market and grow in size.

The current XK model range includes the XK Signature, XK Dynamic R and XKR-S and available as Coupe or Convertible. All have all-aluminium body structure, and propelled by 5.0 V8 engines.
