At the on-going 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen premièred the T-Roc concept car, a Golf-format concept car positioned between the Up! SUV and the compact Tiguan.

Just like other VW Group production and concept cars aimed at the masses these days, the vehicle’s body has been designed based on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB). It is a two-door vehicle with a striking Blue-Splash Metallic exterior that features a three dimensional grille, LED headlights and LED daytime running lights that also double as turn signals. Weighing 1,420kg, the T-Roc also has plastic body cladding, muscular wheel arches and 19-inch alloy wheels with size 245/45 tyres.

The interior comes nicely equipped with leather upholstery, Blue-Splash Metallic trim and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The model also has split folding rear seats, a digital climate control system and a removable tablet that acts as an infotainment display.

The T-Roc is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel direct injection engine that develops 181hp and 380Nm of torque. Power is mated to a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch gearbox) and a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system which allows the T-Roc to sprint from 0-100 km/h in a swift 6.9 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 210 km/h.  In terms of fuel efficiency,  it returns a fuel consumption of 4.9l/100km in the European combined cycle with 129 g/km of CO2.
