Uber and Lyft Causes People to Get into Stranger’s Cars

I was reading about the interweb and found that in the States, as more and more people are getting used to services such as Uber and Lyft, a funny phenomenon has happened. First of all, let me backtrack a bit. Uber and Lyft are basically somewhat similar to a taxi calling service but also offers other incentives such as ridesharing and also displaying the cost of the travel on your mobile.

This has caused such a great hit amongst folks who hate getting cheated or prefer to ride in style (private cars). I had a colleague who actually took a Jaguar all the way to the airport. In some places, there has been talks at the government level whereby a licensing system needs to be in place as how taxis are regulated.

Not all experiences with Uber have been fantastic, I had friends who complained that the driver didn’t know the location and ended driving around trying to find the destination. Other complaints was that it took a while for the driver to arrive and the route seemed to be riddled with traffic jams as well. But at the same time, I hear a lot of positive reviews as well.

For others, a normal day, stuck in a traffic jam and whilst you are stuck alongside a curb, you may actually get strangers just getting into your car. This strange phenomenon isn’t a one time thing as Gawker reports. Quite a number of people who have actually experienced it (strangers getting into their cars) and although it may sound funny to some, to others, it is totally annoying. Some of them, took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

I wonder if we will face this problem as more and more of users turn to this new form of travel. I know that I will definitely be keeping the doors of my car locked, all the time. Perhaps it is time for me to download the app and have a go at it as well.
