Malaysia’s current aspiring single seater driver, Jazeman Jaafar, has just completed his final race of his 2013 campaign in good form after he completed the prestigious but difficult Formula Three race at Macau GP in sixth place. As we shared previously in on the infamous Macau street circuit over here, the Formula Three (F3) race gathers all the top F3 drivers from all around the world to compete for glory in Macau. Famous winners in Macau F3 race including Formula One greats such as Ayrton Senna, the Schumacher brothers, David Coulthard and many more.

The twenty year old was driving for the British based Carlin team; the team where Jazeman is familiar with since his years in British Formula Three and now in World Series Renault 3.5 (WSR 3.5),  piloting the  Volkswagen powered Dallara F3 machine. Jazeman did reasonably well during qualifying which settled him into eighth fastest in final qualifying among all the best F3 pilots in the world. However, due to a yellow flag infringement meaning he was demoted five places to 13th.

On the qualifying race, the tight Macau track meant that there was little chance of overtaking. Jazeman managed to avoid the early scuffles of cars on the early stages and overtook Kevin Korjus in the opening laps, crossing the finish line in 12th position.

Starting at 12th on the main feature race, this young Malaysian has proven his matte to succeed in F1 in near future. The PETRONAS young talent driver did not disappoint by blasting off with a blistering pace and moved up the grid, overtaking one of his team mates, Carlos Sainz Jr and across the finish line at sixth place.

Jazeman said that after racing in his third Macau Grand Prix, “I love this place, there’s such a buzz here and being so close to home makes it extra special. Finishing in sixth is my best result here and I worked hard for it. It was a shame I was given a grid penalty for the first race as that put me on the back foot to make up ground and get a good start position for the second race. In the circumstances I did as much as I could do and I’m happy with the outcome.”

Right now he will decide on his endeavours in 2014 after testing in both GP2 in Abu Dhabi and WSR 3.5 in Europe. This year, Jazeman did reasonably well in the rookies’ cup in WSR 3.5. He managed to rake in a podium position in Monaco, despite enduring a tough learning curve on his first year in WSR 3.5. The Vice Champion of British Formula 3 of 2012, did returned in one round of the British Formula 3 series in Brands Hatch in order to qualified himself to participate in the F3 race in Macau. Amazingly, out of the three races on that weekend, he won two and scored third on another.
