Jaguar has been outshining rivals Aston Martin when it comes to crafting and engineering new sport cars. After blowing away car enthusiasts with the new F-type convertible sport car, Jaguar revealed the all-new F-Type R Coupe, which has been launched simultaneously in motor shows in Tokyo and LA. The word gorgeous is simply an understatement to describe the new Jaguar coupe.
At first glance, it seems Jaguar did more than adding the hard top roof into the existing F-Type convertible. The exclusive roof is available in either aluminium or in panoramic glass form options. Jaguar claimed the F-Type coupe is the most rigid car they ever developed, resulting on a sharper car to drive compared to the convertible counterparts.
Similarly with the convertible, the new F-Type couple starts with the entry-level 335bhp 3.0-litre supercharged V6 model and a 375bhp version of the same engine in the S. While the convertible’s range topper is the V8S with 488HP of supercharged V8 goodness, the flagship model for the F-Type couple, the R, will have 542HP of tarmac pounding ponies. The R model comes with a new torque vectoring by braking system – a first for Jaguar – plus a second-generation electronic differential to enhance handling capabilities. All F-Type coupes uses the same ZF sourced 8 speed Quickshift automatic gearbox with the convertible.
The F-Type Coupe goes on sale by March 2014, priced from £51,235 – around £7,000 less than the soft-top. The range topping F-Type R with additional goodies will cost a whopping £85,000.
