Since debuting in 2008, over the years Nissan has given annual incremental upgrades to the Nissan GT-R. The supercar killer, started off with a 3.8L V6 just chumping out 480HP. Over the years, it has been given annual upgrades of 10-20 HP, together with enhancements to the suspension settings and electronics. This year, together with Nissan’s tuning arm, NISMO, the Nissan GT-R NISMO set to make its debut in this year’s Tokyo Motor show. As expected, this is going to be a very fast Godzilla.

The 3.8L V6 engine has been beefed up to produce 595HP and 480 pound feet of torque. Traction was improved courtesy of the GT-R’s 20 inch tyres from Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT 600 rubber. The Godzilla has gone a serious weight lost program and it shreds a massive 65 kilograms to improve acceleration. With that weight lost the GT-R NISMO was claimed to able to run 0-100 figures in a ludicrous 2.1 seconds.

The GT-R NISMO was claimed to be able to lap the Nürburgring under 7:08 seconds, which should grant it the title of the fastest Japanese sports car to lap the Nürburgring.  At an estimated price of about USD$200,000, we expect more information about the new car when the Tokyo Motor Show hits in a few days’ time.
