Thanks to Ototaiment, we know that Toyota is benchmarking its new Sienta against the Suzuki Ertiga and the Nissan Grand Livina, both of which are seven-seater MPVs. These photos were uploaded to kobayogas.com, and it includes a short video.

Despite its thick camouflage, we are certain that this is the Toyota Sienta, thanks to its rather unique design. While the engineers have masked up the headlights and the entire front fascia, there’s no hiding the rakish front windscreen and rear three-quarter design.

The Toyota Sienta is available as a regular variant, or a hybrid. The former is a 1.5-litre hybrid which pumps out 74 PS at 4,800 rpm and 111 Nm of torque, while the latter is an Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre with 109 PS at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque. The regular Sienta features a Super CVT-i, while the hybrid variant uses an electronically-controlled CVT. Toyota claims that the regular Sienta returns 20.2 km/L, while the electric motor-assisted hybrid returns 27.9 km/L. To further enhance fuel economy, both variants are equipped with Start-Stop System.

Apart from the rivaling the Nissan Grand Livina and Suzuki Ertiga, the Toyota Sienta also goes head-to-head against the new Honda BR-V. Both MPVs are very similar; as both seats seven with relative ease, both uses a CVT and are powered by a 1.5-litre engine.

While the Honda BR-V will almost definitely arrive here, what do you guys think about the Toyota Sienta? Will it be a good addition to UMW Toyota Motors’ arsenal?
