Renault Twizy now legal to drive for 14-year-olds in France

Renault is promoting independent mobility solution at very young age. Recently the company announced that the Twizy EV can now be driven by 14-year-olds.

According to Renault, the European Union recently introduced a new directive providing for the harmonization of driving licenses. As part of the new directive, France has adapted its regulation concerning light quadricycles.

Under the new legislation, 14-year-olds with BSR road safety certificates are authorized to drive light motorized quadricycles, previously reserved for individuals aged 16 and over.

With the introduction of the Renault Twizy 45, 14-year-olds can now use this motorized quadricycles, as an alternative to scooters with levels of safety and comfort superior to those offered by two-wheelers. Twizy 45 is fit as standard with an airbag, double seatbelts, disc brakes and a protective cell.
