On-again, off-again JPJ window tint crackdown is off again…for now.

Late last month AF reported that the Road Transport Department / JPJ will begin cracking down on illegal car window tint as of 1st November 2014, however, we’ve recently learned that JPJ director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad has announced that the move has been postponed (again) for another 6 months to May 1st 2015, in an effort to give more time to owners of imported vehicles to ‘legalise’ their vehicles. He was quoted as saying “They have until April 30th 2015 (to replace any illegal tint with legal ones)”.

Speaking of which, as a recap, the new regulations indicate that the VLT (visible light transmission) for your vehicle are indicated in the photo below from JPJ’s website, and no, it doesn’t just apply to a Mercedes-Benz ML. All those percentages can get a bit confusing so we thought it best to give you a ‘visual’ representation, for which you now have 6 months to adhere to.
