Nissan Murano Hybrid debuts in Shanghai

After the arrival of Nissan X-Trail Hybrid, now the Japanese company has come up with a hybrid version of its Nissan Murano, unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show recently.

Nissan says this hybrid version of Murano crossover will strengthen Nissan’s pioneering efforts to bring more sustainable-mobility options to customers in China and to enhance SUV offerings in the country.

While details are limited at the moment, the new Murano adds performance and efficiency from the hybrid system. It is fitted with a a supercharged 2.5-litre petrol engine, and an electric-motor paired with a compact lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery controlled by the Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch System (one motor/two clutch parallel system) which assists a torque with good response at low speed and a supercharger that can generate a high output power with excellent acceleration. Detailed performance specifications were not released as well but the powertrain sounds identical to the one in the Pathfinder Hybrid which produces a combined maximum output of 250 bhp and 329 Nm of torque.

Nissan also claims that the Murano Hybrid delivers a powerful  driving performance equivalent to V6-3.5L engine and offer superior fuel economy similar to the 2.0L engine. The Murano Hybrid will go on sale in China this summer but there’s no word yet on its global availability.
