Mercedes-Benz announces 2014 full year result

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced a 17% growth year-on-year increase in sales of 9,419 units, as they managed to shift over 900 units per month. The number of passenger cars Mercedes-Benz sold increase 29% from 5,388 in 2013 to 6,932 units in 2014.

For Mercedes-Benz’s core models like the C-, E- and S-Class, cumulative sales numbered in at 4,575 units, an increase of 11% over 2013. For the newly launched S-Class, Mercedes-Benz managed to sell a total of 635 units, an increase of 388% compared to the year before. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has also invested a total of RM15 million in the Pekan production plant for preparation of the S400L Hybrid assembly line.

Roland Folger, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and CEO said, “This past year has been incredible for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia in every way. We saw record sales, especially in the passenger car segment. We flexed our muscles across the entire product line with the NGCC portfolio and brought customer experience to an all-time high.”

New models belonging to the New Generation Compact Car (NGCC) family, namely the CLA and GLA, both contributed a total of 2,322 unit, an increase of almost 100% since 2013. On the commercial front, Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles saw an increase of 23%, thanks to 199 units from fleet deals from Interway Transport Sdn Bhd, Hexagon Highs Transport Sdn Bhd, Swift Haulage Sdn Bhd and many others.

Folger concluded by saying, “As a member of the Daimler group, we will ensure that targets will surpass what we have achieved thus far.
