Honda BR-V Achieves ASEAN NCAP 5-Star Rating

Honda BR-V

The Honda BR-V SUV is the latest released model from Honda crash tested by ASEAN NCAP.

The BR-V SUV, which comes in seven- and five-seater configurations are tested in different variants. ESC and SBR for both front occupants are available in higher variants while ISOFIX and top tether are standard across variants.

Due to ASEAN NCAP 5-Star prerequisite, the BR-V is eligible for dual rating; The BR-V gets 4-Star AOP for variants without ESC and SBR for both front occupants, whilst the BR-V variants equipped with such technologies received a 5-Star AOP rating. As for the COP category, BR-V achieved a 4-Star rating with 72% compliance.

Below is the full results of the BR-V’s crash test:

In comparison, Honda BR-V AOP scores higher than many competitors, Subaru XV with AOP score 14.31 points (5-Star), Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with AOP 12. 08 (4-Star), Toyota Rush with AOP score at 12.47 points (4-Star) and GWM Haval M4 at 9.64 points (3-Star). Nevertheless, for the COP category, Toyota Rush and Haval M4 performed better than the BR-V with 82% and 79%, respectively, with all three SUVs compliance score within the 4-Star rating.

Honda BR-V is the eighth SUV model crash tested by ASEAN NCAP after the Subaru XV (May 2013), Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (July 2013), CR-V (February 2014), Suzuki S-Cross (February 2013), HR-V (May 2015), Toyota Rush (May 2015) and GWM Haval M4 (June 2015). This latest crash test means that Honda has crash tested all of its three SUV lines under the ASEAN NCAP rating system.

Unveiled in production form at the Thailand International Motor Expo last year, the new Honda BR-V is expected to arrive in our local showrooms sometime this year. As we anticipate its arrival, you can read our first impression of this new SUV here.
