Sales this quarter has also seen an increase of 24% to 4,611 units, partly driven by a surge of demand before the implementation of GST on 1st April 2015.

David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company said, “We’re pleased that heightened March demand meant more and more customers were attracted to the leading safety, quality, smart technologies and value for money that our global Ford vehicles offer. We are anticipating some market correction in the coming months due to the pull forward in demand that the GST’s impending implementation created.”

Following behind the Ranger is the Fiesta, with a total of 178 units sold. This marks an increase of 38% from the month before, and finished the first quarter with 474 units sold. “Fiesta appeals to discerning customers in the city car category who appreciate its sporty looks, smart technologies, as well as the power, performance and fuel efficiency of the 1.0L EcoBoost engine” explained Westerman.

Ford EcoSport - 29

March also saw a total of 132 units of the EcoSport sold, an increase of 11%, bringing first quarter sales up to 271 units.  “The EcoSport is a right-sized vehicle that was developed with the market’s traffic and road conditions in mind.
