Android in your car

We covered that Google launched Android Auto, a competitor for Apple’s Car Play but recently Reuters have reported that Google is planning on bringing Android directly into cars.

What this means that cars would already have the Android Operating System built into them and make them accessible to the internet without you plugging in your phone.

Already at the moment, head units offered by third party makers may already run on old operating systems such as Windows CE as well as Android but having an operating system being fully integrated into cars can mean a new leap towards how software and hardware interact creating a better experience for the customer.

This sets Android a little different compared to the likes of CarPlay and Android Auto which requires a phone to be connected to fully utilise all of the features. Again, I can think from Google’s point of view, they would love to obtain your data, that of which where you are travelling to and which area you cover. These days, having all that data is big business.

So far no plans yet have been announced and no dates have been shared hence we can only hope or wait with bated breath until Google releases it or perhaps Apple might just get enough attention with CarPlay. Yeah right.

Of course to me, this screams Terminator when Skynet takes over all machines and Android is that step moving forward. I kid of course, but still, I look forward to having better software and interface especially with in car software.
