The facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Class made a global debut way back in June 2015. While we have to patiently wait for its arrival here, my friend who was in Germany graciously sent these photos over!

This particular A-Class is of the A 220d variant, which is powered by a 2,143 cc OM 651 turbodiesel engine that pushes out 170 PS from 3,400 rpm till 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,400 rpm till 3,400 rpm. Similar to petrol-powered variants, this diesel variant also uses Mercedes-Benz’s 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission. Despite lacking the 4Matic all-wheel drive system, this A 220d still can sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds, while top speed is rated at 224 km/h.

Changes up front include the revised front grille, which now comes standard with a diamond design. The front bumper has also been revised to feature a larger air dam. Moving to the rear, the rear light cluster also gets a new design, while the twin rear mufflers get integrated neatly into the bumper.

Inside, the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Class now receives the same tubular instrument cluster from the CLA-Class and GLA-Class as well as some new switchgears. The W176’s new infotainment system now supports Apple CarPlay and Mirrorlink for seamless connectivity. Elsewhere, the dashboard and trim materials have also been upgraded with new colours, while the seat design is also new.

Looking closer, the facelifted W176 fitted with the 7G-TRONIC transmission also gets the DYNAMIC SELECT system as standard. The DYNAMIC SELECT system allows the driver to alter the engine, transmission, suspension, steering and air conditioning at a touch of a button. The DYNAMIC SELECT system works best with the optional adaptive suspension, which allows the driver to adjust the vehicle’s damping via the DYNAMIC SELECT modes. A total of four driving modes will be available, namely Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Individual. The Eco mode has been enhanced to provide even more savings.
