So mark these dates and venue down in your calendar now, 31st October to 2nd November, 2014, Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel. HMV is scoring a few ‘firsts’ for 2014, and these include:

1977 Type 930 Porsche 911 Turbo

Asia Klasika’s 5th anniversary celebration from 31st of October to the 2nd of November, 2014 will see a transformation of the show from a historic-car based festival, to a full-fledged motor festival, bringing about a 5-star event that will have car enthusiasts revving with excitement over what is in store. Think ‘Pebble Beach Concours’ and you’d not be far off the mark.

Organized by Historic Motoring Ventures, the Asia Klasika Motor Festival, which presents the annual Malaysia International Vintage & Classic Concours, is a three-day festival that proves to be a grandstand play of the finest motoring vehicles, making it the South East Asian incarnate of highly acclaimed concours meets such as the California Pebble Beach Concours and Salon Prive from the United Kingdom.

“Malaysia proves to be one of the most ideal locations in Asia for an internationally-styled car show as the country is rich in its motoring culture, transportation infrastructure and people friendly tropical climate. It is our desire to place Malaysia on the world map of exotic motor events” explains Andrew Suresh, the curator of Asia Klasika Motor Festival.

This year, Asia Klasika will be taking place at picturesque Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel and will see the introduction of luxury lifestyle elements to an automobile show similar to internationally acclaimed car shows in the North America and Europe.

1975 Mercedes-Benz 600

“Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside is a majestic Malaysian themed-hotel and is located strategically within the Federal Capital of Putrajaya with wide roads, ample parking and a beautiful lake as its backdrop, making the venue a perfect setting for a weekend motoring holiday” expressed Suresh.

The theme ‘A Gathering of Thoroughbreds’, is derived from the marques and models that are celebrating their anniversaries globally this year namely, Rolls Royce (110 years), Maserati (100 years), Ford Mustang (50 years), Porsche 911 Turbo (40 years), and a special tribute to MG, in its 90th year, so expect to see a fine display of those anniversary models at the festival.

In keeping with tradition, the main highlight of the show will be the showcase of fine automobiles from the “Royal Johor Automobile Collection” courtesy of the event’s Royal Patron, His Royal Highness The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, and is a must-see for car aficionados.

Also part of the festival will be the much sought after ‘Sultan Ibrahim Cup’, South East Asia’s most prestigious trophy for the cream of the crop of the region’s  historic cars, personally presented by His Royal Highness, an advocate of the gentlemen sport of vintage and classic concours.

The additional components making its debut at this year’s Asia Klasika Motor Festival are Rally Klasika- a Tour d’ Elegance of Putrajaya, Super Marques Asia- a supercar show & shine competition and Retro Japan- a showcase of iconic Japanese collector cars.

Asia Klasika Motor Festival is also collaborating with the National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA) as its official charity partner throughout the festival, aiding the fight against cancer

Another grand feature of the festival is ‘The Pullman Sale’ – a collectors’ cars private treaty sales-show which is brought to you exclusively by Kuala Lumpur & Temasek Classic Automobiles Sdn Bhd.  Collector car shoppers will be able to feast on newly imported cars from United Kingdom, Australia and Japan estimated to be valued at RM5 million collectively.  Kuala Lumpur & Temasek Classic Automobiles Sdn Bhd is an establishment that provides end to end assistance in relation to classic and contemporary automobiles, from sale and purchase to detailing, restoration and maintenance.

Also hopping on the bandwagon are premium and exotic motorcycle brands, namely Indian, Victory and Ducati, bringing something to the table for the motorcycle fans and enthusiasts. Event curator, Andrew Suresh was a nominee and the only Asian short – listed for the Personal Achievement of the Year Award at the inaugural International Historic Motoring Awards in the United Kingdom in 2011, for his efforts in pioneering heritage based motoring events in Asia.

Definitely an event that is not to be missed, do head over to the Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel to witness the ASIA KLASIKA Motor Festival, a display of iconic automobiles from the region. The event is supported by Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside as the host venue and Perbadanan Putrajaya as official representative of the host city, and admission is free.
