New Aston Martin Lagonda makes its way to Oman

Aston Martin Lagonda (2)

With the help of Oman Air, Aston Martin flew a pre-production version of its upcoming Lagonda over to Oman in the Middle East,  and here’s the first look at this exotic-saloon in flesh.

The Lagonda will be built in a limited production run with the first production model expected to arrive next year. But here’s the sad news; the new Lagonda sedan will be available to Middle Eastern customers only “as a result of specific market demand,” the company said.  So that explains the reason why this pre-production model was flown to Oman – for hot-weather testing purposes.

The company hasn’t disclosed any details of the car but it will use the same VH underpinnings that have carried all recent Astons, including the Rapide four-door coupe. Power hasn’t been announced yet, but don’t expect anything less than a 6-litre V12 under the hood.

As with the current Vanquish supercar, all the body panels on the Lagonda sedan will be made from carbon fibre.

Aston Martin Design Director Marek Reichman said, “The new model, like its exclusive siblings the One-77 and V12 Zagato, has been created as a piece of exceptional automotive art. “It has been designed and developed entirely in keeping with the spirit and ethos of previous Lagonda super sedans – notably the William Towns Lagonda – and as a tribute to this car it proudly bears the Lagonda nameplate.”
