Seven time Formula One (F1) world champion, Michael Schumacher is out of a coma, and has left the Grenoble Hospital to undergo a prolonged phase of rehabilitation. His manager, Sabine Kehm, has officially announced this positive news, ending speculation that the worse might have occurred after months of silence on Schumacher’s condition. The last time Kehm updated the German’s condition was in April when Schumacher was showing signs of ‘consciousness and awakening.’

“Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore,” read Kehm’s statement.

“His family would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months. The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes to Michael. We are sure it helped him. For the future, we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye.”

There were no further details on where Schumacher will be, but presumably it will be at his private home at Switzerland, where there was a report saying they are building an ‘at-home” care facility to facilitate his recoveries. Schumacher was critically injured after a horrific skiing accident late last year and was in a coma ever since.
